Experimenting with a new layout

I'm experimenting with a new layout and a new colour theme. Please feel free to leave your feedback here. Some of the XHTML was changed and the CSS was modified heavily. In particular I thought I'd try and see how a left-side bar would work with the blog. Although this theme looks a lot like the old "grey" theme I used a while back, this is a completely new one.

The earlier gold-brown theme still exists, so I can always revert to that, but I wanted a change. :)

I have nothing really against it, but I prefer the old look. Maybe I'm just biased against left hand sidebars!

funny- I remember when left hand menus where in vogue, now it seems really foreign! The right hand bar is kind of more friendly for right handers.

Nice white, as well.

Having a left-hand side bar seems more like a CMS website than a blog.

Hm... maybe I'll change it back, but for now, let's see how this goes. Maybe it's a matter of getting used to it? ;)

I kind of liked the old look as well. But I'm kind of getting tired of the same old looks for blogs and websites, probably one of the reasons I went with TextPattern and opted to remove all the archives, calendar and such, with just a quick search and browse option and a few links.

I definitely like the untraditional look but then again, my own personal sites I design for me, not everyone else ;)

Thanks, drew. Yeah, many websites still use the left-hand side bar, but not necessarily blogs. By the way, my brother's blog also uses a left-hand sidebar.

Looks ok: just change the top blue image: make it a couple of shades lighter and your blog will look great!

Yeah, I guess I need to make it slightly brighter. Thanks for bringing that to my notice, Sudipta.

It looks a little funny to me, but that might be because it is different. Oh, a left had sidebar is a lot less ignorable, which might be bad since a blog is all about the actual content with whatever on the sidebar as sort of an afterthought.
